Hi, my name is Jessie Ellertson! I've been a military wife for 15 years and I have 6 kids. I am also a life coach for military wives and the host of the Simply Resilient podcast. Our family has been through 2 full-year deployments and numerous trainings. It wasn't until my husband's most recent deployment in 2018 that I figured out how to increase my personal resilience, which resulted in my thriving during that deployment year instead of merely surviving.

I discovered how powerful my mind is and quickly began taking control of my life. Instead of feeling like my life was just happening to me, I began responding. The amazing thing was that nothing in my life changed, but everything felt different and better.

We can spend a lot of time wishing our circumstances were different when, for the most part, changing our circumstances isn’t possible. When it is possible, it usually isn’t the best solution to our problems. The only thing we have ultimate control over is our thoughts about our circumstances.

Once you learn how to watch your brain and more intentionally choose your thoughts, you unlock the power to feel how you want to feel. Choosing your feelings feeds the action you take in your life, which ultimately helps you get the results you truly want.

If you're like me, you want to learn from someone who knows what it feels like to go through what you're going through. But at the same time, you don't really want or need more help on the specifics of military life like PCSing and military housing (there are tons of resources out there to help with that kind of stuff). You want someone to help you navigate your life better–to talk about the reality of the circumstances of military life and not just the logistics of military life. I am that person for you!

My mental health has soared over the last few years as I've learned how to develop personal resilience and manage my mind. I got certified as a life coach and launched my practice during my husband's deployment. Now, I get to coach incredible women and teach them how to become best friends with their most powerful tool: their minds.
